Yoga Instructor, Massage Therapist, Teacher Trainer, Anatomy Specialist
I fell in love with yoga after taking my first class on Maui 17 years ago. I realized then that yoga would become a central part of my life and my path. My journeys lead me to a Yoga Teacher Training Certification in 2002 and continue with teaching specialized Anatomy classes around the world, encouraging others to find their voice in teaching yoga and healing. Finding a passion for the body and a desire to better understand its miraculous powers, I became a Certified Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner. My latest training has brought me to work with Gil Headly, PhD, founder of Integral Anatomy and Somanautics Workshop. My playful Hatha Yoga classes combine self-healing techniques with an awareness of the breath while encouraging students to listen to their body in order to heal their selves and connect with the essence of their true nature. In 2005 I began creating Ixchel Holistic and Sustainable Retreat Center on the Big Island of Hawaii and currently host Yoga Retreats and workshops as well as open the space to other healers and facilitators. My goal is to help others in any small way to find freedom in movement, body, mind and spirit. What I want to share is that it is more than taking care of our bodies; it is about incorporating the whole.
We are not separate but connected~ Rachelle

Yoga has followed me on this life journey.
How would I describe my teaching style? I have been told by students that they feel safe above all else in the classes I teach. Safe to express, safe to play, safe to mess up, safe to let go. Whatever that means to them, whatever comes up for them I am there to create and facilitate in that space. I enjoy teaching a class that integrates different breathing techniques, different styles of yoga, including thematic, ashtanga, vinyasa flow, tantra, free flow, yin and breath work. The overall feeling of the class tends be one of collective group energy with enough space to have your own experience.
Aside from teaching yoga my passion is travel anywhere and everywhere. To experience culture and unpredictability is what I crave. As I travel I am able to learn so much more about myself and grow from those I encounter during my travels. My passion in both teaching yoga and traveling has brought me to hosting yoga workshops as well as retreats. In 2005 I began hosting yoga retreats in Big Bear, California and have continued on with repeatedly hosting in Ojai and Santa Barbara and Malibu. Most recently hosting retreats at Ixchel Hawaii on the Big Island of Hawaii, Costa Rica and Italy. Stay tuned as I will continue to search the globe for wonderful places to retreat and adventure and share with loved ones. Thus I continue to nurture my spirit by traveling to amazing destinations including backyard barbecues, surfing, and spending plenty of quality time reading, writing, drawing and being with friends, playing, and of course taking yoga classes, trainings, from the amazing pool of yoga teachers.
